Last Sunday, an elder sat in on our Sunday school class. One of the things we talked about was John 13:33-34. Just before Jesus was crucified he told his disciple this:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
I said, “Christians are easier to love then non-Christians.” Not missing a beat the elder said, “They sure are a lot safer to love” in just that right voice that implied a challenge. …When did he figure out that I love a challenge as long as the goal is reachable? Then on Wednesday night bible study class my pastor implied another challenge with the study of Hebrews 6:12:
“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what was promised.”
One of the things we talked about was making decisions. The question was asked if “We allow “not making a decision” to be our decision?” In other words letting things go on as they are, because it would take an effort on our part to change them….. I think those two have been talking. That’s playing dirty….
All joking aside, God challenge us to be better Christian. We shouldn’t sit still in our faith for God. We should become more godlike within Him, but we can’t expect God to do everything. We have to help ourselves too. It takes an effort on our part to grow and maintain our faith. It might be through praying, studying the bible, making changes, helping others, going to church, and etc.…
Isn’t the Challenge of going to Heaven a REACHABLE GOAL to you?
