Isaiah 48 — Thoughts running around in my mind.

These scriptures have been running around in my mind for awhile now, so I thought I would share them with my readers. Isaiah 48:6-8 (New International Version), “–From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you. They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, ‘Yes, I knew of them.’ You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open–.”
There is a part of me that thinks God creates new things every day. I mean, he is the creator, so why would he stop creating after Genesis? I think that would be like telling a singer to stop singing or a builder to stop building and a giver to stop giving. I believe it is part of God’s nature to create new things.
But I also think these scriptures are all the new things God wants me to know that my ‘old ears’ were closed to before I was a follower of Jesus. Some of these things I just didn’t want to know. Others I didn’t understand. I think God brings understanding to us as we need it and opens our ears to his teachings.
Another part of Isaiah 48 that has been on my mind is verses 10-11. “See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.”
I believe God test us for our faithfulness. It almost sounds mean of God, but I believe it’s God’s goal to refine us, to bring us to a higher place in our faith, and to cause us to move within His Kingdom. It sounds mean but to me, it’s like God saying, “If you aren’t moving in my kingdom then what use are you?” James 2:17 “–faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” I’m reminded that God doesn’t need me, but he wants me, and I want him, so I want to move in his Kingdom. It doesn’t matter how big or small you move, just move as God calls you to.
I also think about all the things that people do and have done in God’s name that has caused harm to individuals. They defame (insult) his name. These people take away from God’s glory and try to place it on themselves, others, or things. We all have things that we are misguided in doing, but I’m talking about huge sinful things that give God a bad representation. A lot of people don’t realize it’s not God, it’s humans behaving wrongly. Sometimes, it’s us acting without fully understanding or unconsciously, and sometimes it’s just pure evil. I think when this happens God sends his warriors, movers, within the kingdom to correct injustice. I don’t’ believe God will stand for his name to be tarnished for long without bringing light to a situation. “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).
In conclusion, let us think holy thoughts, be open to God’s teachings, and move as holy representatives of God. After all, we are his children created by him for him.
